Roller Skating!

DB and I spent the afternoon roller skating at The Oaks Amusement Park in Portland. It was so much fun! The rink was super crowded and even though it's old and could probably use some updates, the disorder was charming.

All laced up and ready to go! And yes, I wore leggings and a sequined sweater. How else would you do it??

On our way home we swung by New Cascadia, a completely dedicated Gluten-Free bakery! So yummy!!

In Haus Press

I just love these designs from In Haus Press. It's the brainchild of an engineer and a pastry chef in San Fransisco. What wonderful results! Hand-crafted letterpress is right up there on the top of my 'favorite things' list.

I know it's a bit late, but 'tis still the Holiday Season, and this card is just too pretty!!

Recipe Cards! Love!

I love the simple bold shape of this graphic.

Wouldn't these tags be just the perfect addition for a special gift?? Love!

And the silhouette, can't do without it! I love what an Americana-Western feel their designs have. Happy Shopping!!

Merry Christmas!

So, when I was little, one of my all-time favorite gifts that I received was a Kirsten doll from American Girl. She's retired now and no longer available for purchase, but I sure loved playing with her! The great thing about the American Girl collection is that each doll came with a heritage and a story. Kirsten was an immigrant from Sweden living in 19th-Century Minnesota. Being a girl of varied ancestral descent (but some Swedish in there) and growing up on the plains of Kansas, I felt like I could relate. One year, I dressed up just like the doll in the St. Lucia dress, loopy braids, candle crown and all!

I love all things nostalgic and this doll definitely tops that list! Funny thing is, when I would play, all I was really interested in was setting up a 'scene'. I didn't really act out stories, I would set up all the pretty tiny things into lovely arrangements and place the doll within those scenes. If I needed some bit or accessory that I didnt have, I would improvise with other tidbits I'd find around the house (one of my favorites was the plastic 'center supports' from pizza used as a tiny table).

Any-who, I think it's funny that now I'm working in developing my skills as a photo stylist, and I grew up, essentially, styling little scenes for my dolls. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!! Enjoy the tradtions of the holidays and time with family :)

Banquet

I'm loving these silhouette-inspired prints from Banquet this morning. They have such a lovely old-world folk feel to them. I especially like the "Canadian Logger meets Enchanted German Forest" theme. Too fun!

This one (above) reminds me of the time DB and I spent in Beatenberg, Switzerland

I think both of these blue+white prints are so pretty. I don't have any blue in my house, but these almost make me want to figure out a way to incorporate it...

This lovely black swan is a shadow puppet!

And a Christmas tree of critters!! It's almost Christmas (yay!)

Navy+Light

I'm in the planning phase of styling a lovely inspiration shoot with Erica Ann. I can't wait for the shoot this January! We're going to go up in the hills to find snow and she produces the most ethereal, dreamy images...it's going to be so pretty! I wanted to share a bit of the behind-the-scene action of our idea process! We are going to do soft dusty pinks, muted minty green, light gray with blue undertones, and champagne golds all accented with a deep (almost black navy). These colors will be set against a snowy, mountainous background here in Oregon. We'll use rustic natural elements mixed with glamorous ornate details like mercury glass, a wall of ribbons, and decadent floral arrangements set against natural burlap and wood grain.

I love the mix here of the satin with fur and birch wood

I love the lambs ear in this bouquet!

Aren't the succulents a nice addition here?

I'm not a huge fan of this dessert buffet, but that wall of ribbons behind is so lovely!

This bouquet (above) is the inspiration for our palette! Just imagine how lovely a deep navy will look with it!

I'll share pictures as they come! Shoot is scheduled for January, so excited :)

Fantastical Fall

I was lucky enough to work with the lovely Jordan and Lianne Phillips of Joli Photographie to style an amazing photo shoot earlier this fall. The preview is just up on their website, check it out! It was such a joy to work with them both, and big thanks to our lovely models Courtney and Kelly!

I'll share the rest of the images with you as they come, so exciting!

Amy Ruppel + Schoolhouse Electric

DB and I headed over to Schoolhouse Electric the other night to check out the new fixtures from Amy Ruppel. The opening reception was very lovely and had that magical bit of Holiday spirit in the air. I even got to say a quick hello to Amy, she's just as nice and lovely in person as her designs come through online! It was a real treat...oh, and the light fixtures are pretty awesome as well!

Ta-da! There it is! Please forgive the horrible cell phone pictures...it may be best to pop over to their website or, if you're in Portland, it's well worth a trip to the showroom!
My favorite was the red and teal, but the black is really pretty too. Congrats Amy!!

Fabric Walls!

So, I recently saw the best idea on The Nate Show. I still do not live in an apartment where I can paint the walls...so I'm thinking about trying this idea out.

What do you think?? I'm considering just doing half of a wall. I would only do the bottom portion as if I had a chair rail...I don't, but I would put a pretty strip of grosgrain ribbon in its place. I can't find an example of exactaly what I'm thinking of in my head...so I might just need to try it out!!

I love this example from Country Living

I also really like these two fabrics from Ikea.
What do y'all think?? I'm seriously considering doing it...I'll post pics if I do!!

Playing with Preppy

Can I please spend the morning professing my love for Kate Spade? All things preppy, and playful! I've already talked all about how prep is back in a big way, but look at all these fun things!! From clothes, to handbags, to jewelry, and paper...these are some of my favorites!
